COME ONE, COME YE ALL: Chapter 16 PICNIC is scheduled for on Friday, September 13, at 5:00 PM at the Salina Carver Center, 315 N 2nd St, Salina, KS. All are invited and asked if you can to bring one side dish to share. The Chapter will provide the meat, buns, eating utensils, and water. At our August meeting, we will finalize a menu. Bring a veteran friend with you. Just let us know if you plan to attend our picnic so that we can get a headcount. JULY MEETING TIDBITS: Bill Whitman won the meeting attendance drawing a $20.00 gift card. Guest Speaker, Kelsey Pfannenstiel, Care Management Supervisor, North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging.Her presentation covered a lot of subjects on available programs andservices provided by Flint Hill Area Agency. Member Fred Fanning presented her with a Chapter Certificate of Appreciation. Shirley Wagner gave the June financial report of $1431.94 in the checking account.

SURVIVOR BENEFIT PLAN (SBP): Upon retirement, you may be able to elect any of several SBP options: spouse coverage, former spouse coverage, child coverage, Former spouse and children coverage, person with insurable interest coverage, and coverage for disabled dependents. SBP elections cannot be canceled or changed after retirement except in specific instances such as a change in your marital status or after the loss of a beneficiary. At retirement, full basic SBP for spouse and children will take effect automatically if you make no other valid election. You may not reduce or decline spouse coverage without your spouse's written consent. If you have a former spouse, it may affect your options.
