VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA (VVA) CHAPTER 809:  An Open Invitation to all Saline County Veterans for COFFEE and DOUGHNUTS on Wednesday and Friday, 9:30 AM, Salina Innovation Foundation, Masonic Center, 336 S. Santa Fe.  Gain access on the north side via the red door. 


MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL: According to TREA Standing Rules updated April 2019 Rule 7, section 11  membership dues become delinquent if not paid within ten days of the membership expiration date, at which time the member will be  inactive and taken off the chapter 16 membership roster, but reactivated when they desire to rejoin and begin to pay their dues again.  Thus, you will be taken off the chapter 16 membership roster by TREA HQ.  


KEEP US INFORMED: Please notify us if you know of any of our members or their spouse that are sick, hospitalized, in a rest home, or have recently passed away.

JUNE MEETING TIDBITS:  Jim Deister won the meeting attendance drawing a $20.00 gift card. Guest Speaker, Jeffrey Tanuis won a special drawing prize two tickets to an event at Stiefel Theater. Speaker J. Tanuis spoked about his seven years in the USAF and work at the USPS Salina Post Office. His wife Janet, who is a postal worker, was with him.  He received a Chapter Certificate of Appreciation, free one-year membership, and a TREA patch.  J. Tanuis gracefully filled out a TREA membership application. Treasurer Shirley Wagner gave the June financial report of $1547.06 in the checking account.

ARMY STILL TWEAKING NEW GREEN SERVICE UNIFORM: U.S. Army recruiters are starting to show off the service's new World War II-style service uniform as Army officials make final tweaks to the classic outfit. The Army has begun fielding more than 200 sets of the new Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) to recruiters and other soldiers who will participate in a limited user evaluation to make sure the new two-tone uniform is ready for its planned fielding to new soldiers in 2020.

KANSAS STATE 2019 LEGISLATURE MILITARY/VETERAN BILLS:  There are eight bills introduced that pertains to military and veterans pending passage.  Attachment 1 is a list of the laws published in the Fort Riley Retiree Council quarterly Newsletter. Contact your State Congressional Members and urge support. 

LAST CALL:  July 31st is the last month to pay the yearly $14.00 fee to receive Newsletter by USPS mail.
