DATE/LOCATION:    June 11, 2021, at the Salina Senior Center Board Room, 1:00 PM.  ‚Äč

MEAL: Chicken & Noodles, mashed potatoes & gravy, buttered corn, dump cake, dinner roll with butter or beer cheese soup.   The Senior Center lifted the restrictions on the number of people (10) in the Boardroom. Things are back to normal conditions.                     


TAPS:  On June 1, 2021, Nelson Newell passed away. Nelson had an extraordinary personality; in 2019, he was honored, recognized as the chapter recruiter of the year for 2018, and received a Certificate of Appreciation for recruiting new members.  Keep the Newell family in your thoughts and prayers.

COVID BY THE NUMBERS (Saline County): As of June 4, 2021, unvaccinated 63.4%, vaccinated 36.6% (19,857), new covid cases 6, currently active cases 20, variant cases identified 12, current hospitalizations 2, total cases 6304, total recovered 6167, and total deaths117. NEW CHAPTER MEMBERS:  We wholeheartedly welcome abroad to new members Warden Stewart (recruiter her husband) and Dennis Naecker, Army Veteran (recruited by Bill Quinley). Thus, under the chapter sign up a new member plan M. Stewart and B. Quinley each received $10.

CHAPTER FUNDS: The financial survival of our chapter depended upon the Of Free Will Donations of our membership.  We spent $36.50 on postage and a gift card.  April meeting, we received $252 and May $103 in free-will donations.  As of this writing, our checking balance is $1216.61. 

SOON VA PROCESSING CLAIMS FOR 3 NEW AGENT ORANGE ILLNESSES: According to VA Secretary Denis McDonough, the department in coming weeks will issue a policy to implement a law that added bladder cancer, hypothyroidism, and Parkinsonism -- or Parkinson's-like symptoms -- to the list of conditions considered linked to Agent Orange exposure.

FORT RILEY RETIREE APPRECIATION DAY (RAD):  The Annual RAD is on  October 23, 2021 (Saturday) at the Riley's Community Center Building, 446 Seitz Drive, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM. This event is for military retirees and spouses, widowers. There will be door drawing prizes and speakers to update us on pertinent Fort Riley and military information.
