Chapter 16 Officers: President – Richard Trow 787-577-3442; Vice President – William Whitman 785-488-6442; Treasurer – VACANT: Secretary - Bill Vinyard 785-787-0655; Chaplain – Moses Stewart. MEETING DATE: May 12th, 1:00PM in the Salina Senior Center, Board Room. Meal -Chicken Cordon Bleu, baked potato, asparagus, dinner roll, and cherry bread.
PRESIDENT’S COMMENTS: In the not too distant future, the Election of Chapter Officers will occur.
1.) IAW our By-Laws the President has reached the tenure of the office.
2.) We are in need of a Treasurer, as of now we have divided the duties up. So Far, our efforts have worked out very well. Action needs to occur.
3.) Events are upcoming: Summer/Fall Chapter Picnic, October -Veterans Parade, Ft. Riley RAD, and Committee for the Election of Officers Chapter 16.
This is a can-do Chapter, and we have very good people in this Chapter. We are a positive group that cares about our fellow Veterans and their families.

TAPS: Galen C. Shirk (Retired MSgt USAF) of Salina died April 18th. He was a life time member of TREA Chapter 16. Please keep the Shirk family in your thoughts and prays.
MAY IS NATIONAL MILITARY APPRECIATION MONTH. May is a special month for both those in and out of the military. For service members and veterans, it's a chance to pay tribute to supportive families and spouses on Military Spouse Appreciation Day, and honor the memory of those who have sacrificed for this nation on Memorial Day. For the general public, the entire month provides an opportunity to say thanks to all those, past and present, who have contributed to the U.S. military. Congress designated May as National Military Appreciation Month in 1999 to ensure the nation was given the opportunity to publicly demonstrate their appreciation for the sacrifices and successes made by THE past and present service members.

APRIL MEETING TIBITS: Meeting attendance drawing winner was Dorothy Armster, who won $20.00 gift card. Guest Speaker was Jason Cage, Salina City Manager. He spoke on many issues such as Salina’s proposed Capital Improvement Sales Tax, Dog Park, New Town Field House, electronic waste disposal, etc. Members asked a lot of questions in which J. Cage answered. His visit was well received by all. He was given a Chapter 16 Certificate of Appreciation.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Vice President Bill Whitman gave the Treasurer report from March 10th to April 14th chapter checking ending balance of $1340.97.
