SOON A SENIORS IRS TAX FORM: Filing an IRS tax return is likely to be simpler next year for at least 10 percent of the 150 million American who do so. That's because there'll be a new 1040 form designed specifically for older Americans, age 65 and up, in time for filing their 2019 taxes in 2020. The new Form 1040-SR should allow seniors to file taxes without the usage of an accountant. It also uses large print and removes shading around boxes that received complaints from some older tax filers. So, what's the downside? Using Form 1040-SR doesn't allow you to itemize. Seniors who still operate a small business will need to continue filing on standard Form 1040 with Schedule C, which details expenses and profits.

FLU SHOT: Fall is here; thus, Flu season is around the corner so protect yourself and loved ones by getting a flu shot. There is a SENIOR FLUvaccine that can help provide stronger flu protection for people 65 or older. It helps strengthen your body’s immune response against the flu, so ask for the Senior Flu Shot. As of this writing, the Salina VA clinic is scheduled to give flu shots.

FORT RILEY RETIREE APPRECIATION DAY (RAD):  The 2019RAD is October 12, at the Riley's Community Center Building, 446 Seitz Rd, 7:30 am-3:30 pm.  This event is for military retirees and spouses, widowers.  There will be door drawing prizes and speakers to update us on pertinent Fort Riley and military information.
