REST HOME/SICK/RECOVERING:    William Long in Pinnacle Park, Room 211, 2936 Georgia Ave, Dorothy Armster, and Roger Thull.

BIRTHDAY IN AUGUST:   Fortino Bonilla, Billy Booe, Leroy Rittel, Rachel Holt Fikes, Nelson Newell, and Moses Stewart.  Happy Birthday You All!

COVID-19 SAFETY TIP/REMINDER:  In the age of COVID-19, our daily life continues to be transformed by the pandemic; we must be flexible, cautious, and make changes to our usual ways and lifestyles. We must not let our guard down need to practice good health and safety practices. Some steps you can take to help keep you, your family, and your community safe: follow government and local health guidance, stay home as much as possible, and practice "social distancing" if you must go out; wash your hands frequently and thoroughly (at least 20 seconds);  be prepared for a potential quarantine; stay informed and be wary of rumors you hear or read on social media.

CORONAVIRUS TESTS AND TREATMENTS: Thanks to the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, COVID-19 testing will be free, but you could still be on the hook for the substantial cost of your care.  Adoctor visit for COVID-19 would be covered by all private insurers, TRICARE, Medicare, and Medicaid, and the uninsured, without any cost to the patient.  But just because the test and the doctor visit are free does not mean you receive a test if you do not exhibit any symptoms. However, the cost of being treated for COVID-19 could still be expensive, especially if you need to go to the emergency room or admitted to the hospital.

FINANCIAL REPORT: Spent $16.50 on postage for newsletter mailing, $50.00 for two memorials, and $50.00 for CPA completing the annual 990-N IRS tax-exempt.  We received $42.00 from 3 members (for Newsletter mailing) and Free Will Donations of $57.00 from two members. Our checkbook balance is $1314.61.   If you wish to make a Free Will Donation, make the check payable to TREA Chapter 16 and mail it to the address on this newsletter.  Your bigheartedness is appreciated.

AGENT ORANGE UPDATE: U.S. Senate passed amendment #1972 that will require the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide long-overdue benefits to veterans suffering from diseases associated with exposure to Agent Orange, including Bladder Cancer, Hypothyroidism, and Parkinsonism.  Vietnam veterans suffering from conditions related to exposure to Agent Orange are one step closer to receiving critical care and benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) following sustained efforts from U.S. Senator Jon Tester to include his bipartisan legislation in the National Defense Authorization Act  - a must-pass annual

Defense Bill.

CHAPTER 2020 EVENTS CANCELLATION:   Picnic in September, recruiting table at Sunflower Fair Tony's Pizza Event Center in September and at the Fort Riley Retiree Appreciation Day in October. These two events most likely will be canceled by the organization.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL: Please renew your TREA chapter membership.  Chapter 16 membership is down to 50 members. In July,  Mille Moye became a lifetime member.
