2019 MEETING DATE/LOCATION: June 14, Salina Senior Center AT 1:00 pm, Board Room 

MEAL: Beef or Chicken Enchiladas, rice, beans, fruit salad, and vegetable soup 

 

HELP INCREASE MEMBERSHIP (SIGN HIM/HER UP):  TREA REGULAR MEMBERSHIP change, now it is any honorably discharged enlisted person- retired, active duty, National Guard or Reserve, or the SPOUSE of an honorably discharged enlisted person – retired, active duty, National Guard or Reserve shall be eligible for regular membership. Regular membership entitles the member to all privileges of membership, including attending conventions, making motions, and holding office.  All our associate members are now REGULAR MEMBER.  So, recruit YOUR SPOUSE. As your chapter Secretary and editor of the Newsletter; I must practice What I encourage others to do, so I signed UP my wife for a TREA chapter member.

KEEP US INFORMED: Please notify us if you know of any of our members or their spouse that are sick, hospitalized, in a rest home, or have recently passed away.

 

BIRTHDAY IN JUNE:  Ronald Brown and Betty Brown, Ella Gier, Johnny Hull, William Merkle, and James Price.

 

FIREWORKS:  Local VFW  1421 will have a fireworks tent (June 27 thru July 5) at 6 North 170th Road, Old Highway 81, veterans receive 10% discount on fireworks.

 

ANNUAL FREEDOM CELEBRATION:  On June 30, 2019, Emmanuel Foursquare Church, 1325 E. Cloud, Salina there will be at 5:00 pm Free Meal and at 6:00 pm Honor Service for veterans and spouses of deceased veterans. Each veteran by the branch of service as well as the widows of veterans, will be honored. The evening will close with drawings for unique gifts and prizes.

 

NEWSLETTER: To keep receiving a monthly Chapter Newsletter by Postal Service mail, you must pay an annual fee of $14.00 no later than by July 31, 2019.  The $14.00 price is for postage and printing cost. If you do not want to receive a Newsletter, please let us know. To receive monthly Newsletter by E-mail contact us at vinex2@att.net. Hence, there is no fee for Newsletter by E-mail, and quarterly we send the Newsletter to all members regardless if did not pay.  Each month, the current Newsletters is on our Website www-midwaychapter16.org.  

 

MAY MEETING TIDBITS:  - William Whitman won the meeting attendance drawing a $20.00 gift card. The April treasurer report reflected a check account balance of $1435.35, and May a balance of $1468.85. After a comprehensive discussion, the members voted and approved, to have a chapter picnic on 09/13/19, at the Carver Center at 5:00 pm. 

 

NEW VA POLICY: On June 6, the VA’s Community Care Program changed, MISSION Act may change the way you receive care from VA based on new eligibility requirements. VA Urgent and Walk-In Care, veterans who have received treatment from the VA in the last 24 months can get assistance at some community-based urgent care facilities. Essential fact - urgent care facilities MUST be within VA's Network or contract to be covered.
