- HISTORY/MEMBERSHIP COMMENTS: TREA became a veteran organization in 1963. In 2012 TREA (The Retired Enlisted Association) changed to The Enlisted Association but kept the TREA designation. This move was needed so as an organization TREA could represent the enlisted veterans and their spouses; and Vets eligibility for membership. Then in 2014, all TREA chapters received the shocking news of a significant financial shortfall at TREA National Headquarters and the stoppage of quarterly rebates money to chapters based upon their membership numbers. The move left chapters to seek other avenues and become self-funding. Without all your huge support via “OF FREE WILL DONATIONS,” as a group, we would not have endured. Our Chapter has been an affiliate of TREA since 1970, for our group to remain an active chapter of TREA: The Enlisted Association it is so imperative that we continue recruiting new members, and that you renew your membership. There are only 35 TREA chapters in the USA. Ten years ago, there was a TREA chapter in Junction City and Wichita; however, the two did not survive. We are the last TREA chapter in Kansas. Currently, we have 61 members. As of this writing, we have 19 members whose membership expires in 2019. We need your continued support, it is much appreciated when you renew your membership. HELP US TO REMAIN!
- FOR FUNDS: As you know, January of this year our chapter implemented a TV raffle to raise money. The raffle ends on March 8th; however, you can buy tickets at our monthly meeting before the drawing. Your last chance to win a 55-inch Samsung HD smart TV.

TIDBITS OF FEBRUARY MEETING: Roger Thull won the attendance drawing ($20). Guest Speakers Rebecca Hansen and Crystal Nashwick from SRHC Hospice of Salina Clinic gave an in-depth talk about Hospice and services and programs provided by the Clinic. Their presentation was well received, and they received a Chapter Certificate of Appreciation from Chaplain Moses Stewart. Nelson Newell was honored and recognized as the chapter recruiter of the year for 2018 (recruited six new members). President Richard Trow presented him with a Certificate of Appreciate award and a TREA overseas cap. Secretary Bill Vinyard gave an update of the Sunset Park War Memorial Expansion Project. Also, he advised that on Feb 25th at the VFW there is a DAV Vet Information Seminar and Claim Assistance. Roger Thull gave an update on the TV Raffle ticket sales.
