VA AIRBORNE HAZARDS AND OPEN BURN PIT REGISTRY: VA is expanding eligibility and making it easier to use. Ever since 2014, VA's Register has been an essential tool for recent Veterans and service members to record their exposures to hazardous toxins and related health conditions. A total of 327,626 Veterans and service members have joined the registry since August 17, 2022, and this number continues to grow. Plus, you are eligible to participate if you were deployed to one of three new locations: Syria or Uzbekistan since September 11, 2001, or Egypt since August 1990.

CHAPTER’S 2nd ANNUAL DINNER FUNDRAISER: November 4 is the date for our Vet Dinner fundraiser, and it will be at the local VFW with an auction, fifty-fifty drawing, and a meal.  As of this writing, we have not confirmed a caterer.  Member Bob Clark will be the auctioneer, andGuest Speaker member Phil Coleman (Motivational Speaker). Four of our members will make donations for the auction and gift drawings.  If you like to donate an auction item, contact one of the chapter officers.  Advertisements about the event and meal and ticket prices will be forthcoming soon. Since we are a self-supporting chapter, it is fundraiser events like this one and monthly Free Will Donations that help us to survive financially.

CANCER SCREENING:  The American Cancer Society has guidelines for colorectal cancer screening and recommends people at average risk for colorectal cancer begin screening at age 45.   It would behoove Veterans 45-75 years old to get a colorectal cancer screening. Each year, VA diagnoses 4,000 new cases of colorectal cancer in Veterans. Colorectal cancer screening can help detect cancer early.

ANNUAL IRS TAX FORM 990-N:  If approved, one of the proposed additions to TREA Standing Rules 9, part IV, paragraph 9, chapter reporting requirements will require chapters to provide TREA HQ a confirmation copy of their yearly IRS Tax form 990-N filing to IRS.
