    LOCATION/MEETING DATES: Saline County Senior Center, Boardroom, September 13, October 11, November 8,

    and December 13.

    MEAL: Hamburger gravy over mashed potatoes, seasoned broccoli, mandarin oranges, wheat bread with butter.

    SECRETARY'S COMMENT: I hope this newsletter finds all of you well and you had a great Labor Day. The best news for

    the good of our chapter is that members Fred and Tammy Fanning have moved back to Salina from Bentonville, Ark. It will

    be great to see and work with them again at our meetings. Their expertise is invaluable and will impact the chapter moving

    forward.

    WELLNESS: Rachel Holt Fikes, Shirley Wagner, and Richard Trow. Please keep them in your thoughts and say special

    prayers.

    BIRTHDAY IN SEPTEMBER: Bertha Vinyard. Happy Birthday. If your birthday is not listed, please let us know.

    REMINDER: November 8 is our Veteran Dinner and Auction fundraiser. If, by chance, you have any excellent auction items

    at home. We would appreciate it if you donated an item or items for our auction with a brief description. Don't hesitate to

    contact the chapter officers or email yardwv71@gmail.com so we can document your item. Tickets for this event are on

    sale now. With gratitude, we thank you for your support.

    TIDBITS OF AUGUST MEETING: Treasurer Roger Thull briefed the 07/12/24 to 08/09/24 financial report, two expenses, two

    deposits, and an ending checking account balance of $4517.44. Preparing for the fundraiser discussed purchasing a credit

    card reader device, a location to store auction items, and distributing the Donation Request Letter and Sponsorship form

    to businesses.

    TREA BYLAWS AND STANDING RULE INTENDED CHANGES: In the recent TREA Voice Magazine, Summer 2024 has the

    2024 Election Official Ballot with Proposed Changes to TREA Bylaws & Standing Rules (8 Bylaws AND 6 Standing rules).

    One noteworthy Bylaw change is Article XVI, Section 7 (what happens to chapter funds upon Dissolution/closure). If your

    time permits, review the changes and follow the instructions in Voice magazine, pages 27 and 28. The deadline for voting

    is noon on September 24, 2024.

    SOME UPCOMING EVENTS IN SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER. AND NOVEMBER:

    September 28 and 29, 09:00 am to 5:00 pm Gun Show hosted by VFW Post 1432.

    October 5, 10:00 am to 8:00 pm Salina Community Family Day presented by American Legion Post 62 and VFW Post 1432.

    October 18, KWU Veterans Recognition Ceremony 11:00 to 11`:45 AM; after the ceremony, a picnic lunch in Muir Gym is

    free for preregistered veterans and one guest for $10 for others. You must RSVP for a meal by Wednesday, October 9. Kay

    The Fort Riley 2024 Retiree Appreciation Day is on Saturday, October 19, from 0800 AM to 1:00 pm. at Riley's Community

    Center, 446 Seitz Drive—all Military Retirees & Spouses Welcome. Receive briefing updates on Health Care Insurance,
